Assessment topics and 'plushies' :)

Dear students,

I apologise as I've not been able to post anything lately. I've been very busy. Today I would like to inform the topics that you have to revise for the upcoming assessments.

English S2: Please revise on your tenses, the cause effect pattern, and sentence connectors. Another important message, please make sure you do not use any shortforms or 'sms language' in your writing.

Geography S2: Do revision on Human Environment and Population. Focus an the meaning of the terms and InsyaAllah you'll be able to score marks.

I would just like to share some pictures taken during the 'girl's friday program' last friday. We learn how to make 'plushies' (small soft toy) using felt and cotton wool. The girls learn to sew simple things and we had so much fun, even the teachers :p

Fun Day!

Good Morning!

How is everyone feeling today? I am sure that most of you are tired due to our 'Fun Day' yesterday. It was fun, wasn't it? Well, I enjoyed myself honestly :) Skating isn't as easy as I thought. Training is required to skate like those people we see on TV. I learnt the hard way though :( Luckily I did not fall on my face :) My lovely students are really kind enough to teach me how to skate. Thank you everyone! It is really ironic because in class, I will teach you, but in the skating ring, you taught me instead :) Well, I do not have any pictures on the skating ring due to I was struggling to stand straight myself, let alone hold a camera! I'm sorry for that. I only managed to get these two pictures taken on the bus:

We still had a little time when we get back to school so I had a little story writing (continuous writing) with the secondary 2 students. What we have to do in a continuous writing is; firstly, the teacher will write a sentence on a piece of paper. Than the paper will be given to the students one by one to continue the story, and back to the teacher, and the whole round repeats until the story is completed. Finally, teacher will read the story out loud so students could get the whole picture and understand it. The stories can be long or short, depending on the flow of ideas from everyone. This activity is really fun and students could write down their ideas and be creative. You can try this at home and write a story among your siblings. It will be fun. Happy writing!

English Tenses

Hey everyone!

I am sorry if it took me sooooo long to update . I have been very busy lately. Just for your info, last week I did on tenses with my secondary students. I know it is easy but it is just a recap from the previous years to make sure everyone understands it well. I have put everything in the simple table below. Kindly read and see me if you have any inquiries. Since I have put it in a very simple way, even the primary students can learn this. Happy learning everyone!

Tenses	Statements	Questions	Notes
Simple Present ( talk about the present)	1. I read a book. 2. He has a book.	1. Do you like to read? 2. Does he walk to school?	* use the simple form of a verb: eat, drink, talk, etc.
Present Continuous (talk about what is happening at the moment)	1. I am talking. 2. They are walking. 3. It is eating.	1. Am I replacing him? 2. Are we making this? 3. Is it raining?	* use the ‘be’ + verb and add  ‘-ing’: is walking,  am talking, are taking, etc.
Simple Past (talk about actions that happened at a definite time in the past)	1. I walked to school. 2. He swept. 3. They wrote it.	1. Did you walk to school? 2. Did he sweep? 3. Did they write it?	* usually add ‘-ed’ at the end of the word: talked, walked, etc. (regular verbs) * (irregular verbs): write=wrote, sweet=swept, etc. * for questions, do not use past tense for the verb as we already have the word 'did'
Past Continuous (talking about an activity in the past)	1. They were talking to me. 2. It was raining. 3. He was running.	1. Were they talking to me? 2. Was it raining? 3. Was he running?	* use the ‘be’+ past tense of a verb: was talking, were walking, etc.
Future (Talk about an action that will take place in the future)	1. We will go. 2. He will take part. 3. They will come.	1. Shall we go? 2. Will he take part? 3. Will they come?	*add the word ‘will’ in front of the verb: will go, will take, etc. *for questions, use shall if the subject is ‘I’ or ‘we’

 

Multiracial = Multilingual

Living in a multiracial country like Malaysia gives us the advantage of learning so many beautiful languages. The most common languages would be malay, chinese, indian and english. Today I added another language to the list for my students. Japanese! Well, I am not a native speaker myself, but I did learn it once during my student years. So for those who missed the class, these are simple sentences that you could learn:

 

Hajimemashite. (Nice to meet you.)

Watashiwa Farah Hanisah desu. (My name is Farah Hanisah.)

Farah to yonde kudasai. (You can call me Farah.)

Subang Jaya kara kimashita. (I live in Subang Jaya)

Yoroshiku onegai shimasu. (Thank you in advance/ Nice to meet you.)

 

Now, try to replace the bold words with your own.

Recycle!

 

Dear All,

 

Recycle! What is recycle? Well, to me it means reuse. We have to reuse things to decrease the amount of rubbish we make everyday. By recycling, we could save lots of things. For example, if we throw used papers in the recycling bin instead of the dustbin, we might be saving trees from being cut down. Imagine if we use 10 pieces of paper a day, that will come up to 50 pieces a week (school days only). We could be using 2000 pieces of paper a year! That is only for 1 student. If there are 100 students in 1 school? How many school do we have in Malaysia? MashaAllah. What we could do for a start is write on both side of papers instead of only one. We could cut the use of papers by half. Less trees will be cut down to provide for our daily paper needs. So, let us all try and save our dear mother earth, let's RECYCLE!

My First Post

This will be my first post. Finally, after all these years, I've managed to create it. Yeay! All this while I've only read blogs and never cared on creating one myself. Now that I have, I'll be posting lots and lots of things. I'll try to update it daily and post as much useful information as possible. Oh by the way, this blog is actually created to update students and parents on the latest news or assignments or whatever it is I feel important to share.
